FAQ
What is NFC tracking?
NFC tracking is the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to verify actions, locations, or interactions by scanning NFC tags. These tags are small chips that transmit data when tapped by a compatible device, such as a smartphone. In commercial real estate, NFC tracking enables real-time task logging, proof of presence, and asset monitoring, helping improve accountability, efficiency, and compliance.
How to use NFC tags to track inventory?
To track inventory with NFC, attach an NFC tag to each item or container. When a team member taps the tag using an NFC-enabled device, it records the item’s location, status, or transaction in a central system. This method allows for real-time updates, minimizes manual input errors, and provides an auditable trail of inventory movement, ideal for facilities, storage rooms, or mobile equipment tracking.
Does NFC work without internet?
Yes, NFC technology itself does not require an internet connection to function. The tag and the scanning device communicate locally using radio frequency. However, if the system is designed to sync scanned data to a cloud dashboard, the device will need internet access at some point, either in real time or once a connection is reestablished, for full functionality and reporting.
